Unveiling Cape Cod's First Jewish Culture Festival
In a vibrant celebration of diversity and community, Cape Cod is set to host its inaugural Jewish Culture Festival on August 17 at Chabad Lubavitch of Cape Cod in Hyannis. This anticipated event marks an important milestone for the Jewish community on Cape Cod and is backed by a generous grant from the Rosalyn and Richard Slifka Charitable Foundation. With festivities planned from 2 to 5 p.m., attendees can expect a lively mix of music, art, and delectable cuisine that encapsulates the richness of Jewish culture.
A Festive Lineup to Savor
The festival will proudly feature an impressive musical lineup, headlined by the talented Jewish rapper Nosson Zand, a native of Brookline. He will be joined by the Parnessim Klezmer & Jazz Band, along with local favorites Bart Weisman and Ron Ormsby. The event promises to be a feast for the senses, with culinary offerings from Mendy’s Delicatessen, known for its classic New York kosher fare, and select Israeli wines provided by Wesley Krell.
More Than Just Music: A Community Celebration
As highlighted by Rabbi Yekusiel Alperowitz, the festival's aim transcends mere entertainment. It is an opportunity to come together in unity—“We’re excited to share vibrant Jewish music, art, and cuisine with the entire Cape Cod community.” The festival will welcome visitors from all faiths, reinforcing Cape Cod’s commitment to celebrating diverse cultural traditions. Devorah Alperowitz, co-director at Chabad Lubavitch, also emphasizes the significance of this event in fostering a sense of belonging among attendees.
A Family-Friendly Experience
In addition to the music and food, the festival will feature family-friendly activities, including inflatables and crafts, ensuring a delightful day for people of all ages. Festival organizers have assured attendees of a safe environment with onsite security and ample parking available at Barnstable High School.
